DZN collection
The collection includes works by Polish and foreign composers from the Baroque period to modern times. The resources of the Head Office of Business and Artistic Institutions Services [Centrala Obsługi Przedsiębiorstw i Instytucji Artystycznych (COPIA)] and the Central Music Library [Centralna Biblioteka Nutowa (CBN)] form the historical part of the collection. The more recent part consists mainly of materials produced by PWM from its own catalogue as well as the materials form public domain aquired from foreign publishers.
The cooperation with foreign publishers

DZN as part of PWM cooperates in terms of hiring materials with many foreign publishers, representing most of them within Polish territory on an exclusive basis. Among these publishers are mainly entities from Wise Music Group (i.a. Chester, Novello, Leduc), Universal Music Publishing Classics and Screen (i.a. Ricordi, Salabert, Durand), as well as Boosey & Hawkes, Schott Music, Universal Edition Wien and others. Some of these publishers signed mutual agreements with PWM and act as agents of PWM, dealing with hire orders of works from PWM catalogue within their territories.

The history and the seat
DZN was founded in 1958 in Warsaw as CBN. In 2000 its name was changed to the Library of the Orchestral Materials [Biblioteka Materiałów Orkiestrowych (BMO)]. The current name was adopted in 2016. In the years 1958-1988 DZN (then CBN) was located in the Primate's Palace on Senatorska 13/15 Street in Warsaw and the collection was kept in several locations within the centre of the city. Through many years’ efforts of Jerzy Jasieński, then the Head of the Department, DZN aquired a new place – a freshly renovated tenement located at Fredry 8 Street, the former seat of the Discount Bank. The building was founded before 1897 and designed by Kazimierz Löewe. It survived the war in a completely undamaged condition but was devastated in the 1950s. In 1990 the building underwent a general renovation according to a project by Tadeusz Goner with restoration of the banking operation room and strengthening the ceilings at the same time in order to adapt the construction to the needs of CBN thanks to which the whole collection could be gathered in one place. Currently, it is planned to strenghten the foundations as well as the reconstruction of the building in order to create a new music centre #Fredry8. For the period of the reconstruction, DZN is moving to a temporary location at Wiejska 19 Street.
