I International String Quartet Competition

Between 01-04.12.2011the I International String Quartet Competition in Radom will be held. During the first day of the competition we can hear works by Glazunov, Błażewicz and Mendelssohn at the inaugural concert. Performing: Wilanów Quartet, Radom Chamber Orchestra, Maciej Żółtowski - conductor, Janusz Ekiert – words about the musicIn the programme: Alexander Glazunov (1865-1936) - „Theme and variations”, Marcin Błażewicz (*1953) Concerto for string quartet and string orchestra – world premiere (Adagio ma agitato, Allegro con fuoco), Felix Mendelssohn (1809-1847) - Octet E flat major op. 20 (Allegro moderato ma con fuoco, Andante, Scherzo, Presto).
The I International String Quartet Competition is a unique competition in Poland, which promotes the highest and most difficult form of chamber music. The competition was organized on the foundation of more than 15 years of string quartet festivals held in Radom.
