We are very happy to inform that Tomasz Knittel’s film Mieczysław Karłowicz. Samotna wędrówka [Mieczysław Karłowicz. A Lone Journey], co-produced by PWM Edition and TVP (Polish state television broadcaster), won the Silver Pegasus during the gala of the 22nd Zakopane Festival of Films about Art held on 14th April.

11 December is the date of 140. anniversary of Mieczysław Karłowicz birthday. LET’S PLAY KARŁOWICZ is a project initiated by PWM Edition that invites philharmonics and orchestras to play composer’s pieces around this date. As a result fourteen concerts with Karłowicz’s music will be performed only in December all around Poland. Thank you for such a great response to our project!

On 13 November, the "Oltenia" State Philharmonic in Craiova, Romania, will feature the concert with Polish music, organised as part of the series presenting European music heritage. Three Polish musical pieces: "Concerto-Notturno" by Mikołaj Górecki, "Bajka" (Fairytale) overture by Stanisław Moniuszko and the "Eternal Songs" symphonic poem by Mieczysław Karłowicz will be performed.

The Chopin and His Europe Festival, which will be held between 15 and 29 August under the slogan: "Before the Great Competition. From Chopin to Scriabin", is a musical countdown to the 17th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition which starts on 1 October. The festival concerts will be filled with Polish music of the 19th century, which will be perfomed by the most outstanding artists.

In the coming days, 8 and 9 October 2011, the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Jacek Kasprzyk will perform Mieczysław Karlowicz’s symphonic poem Rapsodia litewska, op. 11. The concert will be held at the Petronas Philharmonic Hall in Kuala Lumpur.
