Selected Studies for Flute 1
book 1
The flute syllabus provides ample auxiliary literature. The present collection of études, chosen from numerous tutor-books, will facilitate the study and realisation of the curriculum more precisely. The selection of studies was aimed at improving pupils' musicality as well as systematic mastery of the instrument, and so included, above all, studies with artistic qualities. At the same time, beginners are gradually introduced to new problems of flute technique. I arranged the studies progressively according to degree of difficulty both in respect of key and fingering and tonal technique. I re-edited them in respect of phrasing and fingering, and provided them with practice methods in order to increase their instructional value. Use of the present collection may begin after the acquisition of basic skills in note reading, rhythmical control, embouchure and sound production, i.e. after preliminary exercises from an appropriate flute method have been studied (e.g. Method by E. Towarnicki, PWM Edition). [Feliks Tomaszewski]
