Its contents contain a number of panegyric references to the tsar. Only the libretto and the overture arranged and published by the composer in a piano version in 1820 are extant. In his works Kurpiński aimed at establishing the national features of contemporary Polish music, making use, among others, of various genres of Polish dance. In the overture to the opera ''The Reward'', the composer introduced the characteristic rhythms of the three Polish folk dances: the polonaise, the krakowiak and the mazurka.
