A work of a dark and gloomy character, illustrating by means of musical devices the atmosphere of night hours. Low sounding instruments of the orchestra, frequent tremolos and tremolandos, graduation of tensions trough alternate dialogues of instrumental groups until the sounding of the whole orchestral apparatus is reached at its climax all this serves to emphasize and illustrate the suggestive atmosphere of the night. the first performance of the work took place on Seprember 29, 1990 Cracow, with the Cracow Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Gilbert Levine.
