The jazz musicians (trio: trumpet or saxophone, double-bass and drums) are soloists in this work. Most of the time jazz musicians play freely - the places where they start and stop playing are written in their parts as well as suggestions concerning the character of sounds and dynamic values. The orchestra gives specific pulse for jazz musicians similar to the role of continuos rhythm in jazz tradition.
