This piece unites sonorism with elements of 12-tone technique. Once again, as in ''Riff 62'', ''Générique'' and ''Diphthongos'' it is a result of the composers exploration of sound. Designed for a large orchestra with a traditionally expanded percussion section. In the score, the composer has placed the ending of Walt Whitman's poem, ''Hush'd Be the Camps To-Day'', dedicated to U.S. President Abraham Lincoln, who spent 17 years of his life in Springfield (Illinois), then died at the hands of an assassin. As Leszek Polony notes this assasination took place exactly one hundred years before the piece was written, which also ''has led to obvious associations with an event that shook the world two years earlier, [in 1963]: the murder of President John F. Kennedy'' (L. Polony, Żywioł i modlitwa).
