The Festival of Polish Music, Krakow 2016

Two July weekends: 8th-10th and 15th-17th will be filled with ten concerts within the Festival of Polish Music. Three of them will be devoted to the artistic work by Józef Michał Ksawery Poniatowski, which becomes a reference point for other concerts.

Zygmunt Krauze’s 'Poem of Appolinaire' - premiere

World premiere of Zygmunt Krauze’s "Poem of Apollinaire" will take place in Warsaw on 26th June. His work is dedicated to a speaking pianist and 12 instruments. The first performance shall be honoured by the Orkest de ereprijs conducted by Wim Boerman. The solo part will be played by the composer.

The Festival of Seven Trends will take place in Warsaw on 19th-25th June. This festival caps the celebration of the seventieth anniversary of the Association of Polish Composers.

Concerto for trombone and orchestra by Kazimierz Serocki will be staged in Chiba (Japan) on 26th June. The solo part will be performed by Daisuke Ueno with the participation of New Philharmonic Orchestra of Chiba conducted by Kazufumi Yamashita.
‘Quo vadis’ by Feliks Nowowiejski will resonate in concerts in Poland and Germany

Quo vadis, an oratorio by Feliks Nowowiejski, will be played in Konin (25th June), Poznań (29th June) and Berlin (30th June). The work will be performed by Wioletta Chodowicz (soprano), Robert Gierlach (baritone) and Wojtek Gierlach (bass) accompanied by the Choir of Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic and the Orchestra of Poznań Philharmonic conducted by Łukasz Borowicz.

The 4CD album featuring songs and instrumental works by the Silesian master goes on sale as of 8 November. Released by the ANAKLASIS music label, it will be premiered on 3 December during a special PWM Edition concert held as part of the 12th International Days of Henryk Mikołaj Górecki at the Silesian Philharmonic in Katowice.
The esteemed American-Canadian jazz musician Michael Bates, his Acrobat Ensemble and the Lutosławski Quartet will perform three concerts in Poland in November. The repertoire will include material recorded by the musicians on the album METAMORPHOSES: VARIATIONS ON LUTOSŁAWSKI, released by ANAKLASIS in the REVISIONS series.
The artists have already successfully presented it at Lincoln Center and Barbès Jazz Club in New York. In autumn 2024 we will have the opportunity to hear them live for the first time in Poland: 14.11 - Krakow, 15.11 - Lublin, 17.11 - Wroclaw.
The Fryderyk Chopin Institute in Warsaw invites to the inaugural session of the biennial International Digital Musicology Conference, which will be held 23–25 October 2024, at the Fryderyk Chopin Institute in Warsaw, Poland. The conference focuses on the integration of digital technologies into musicological research, with a special emphasis on introducing digital tools and methods to the Polish academic community, where digital musicology has not yet been widely adopted.
