Diphthongos
for Mixed Choir, 2 Pianos, Percussion and Archi
A youthful composition by Wojciech Kilar from his avant-garde days . Based on rustling and percussive material, it uses unconventional vocal, (such as cries from Trobriand songs - ''lo'uwa'') as well as instrumental effects (among them are arpeggios beyond the bridge and pizzicato using a plectrum). The main form buliding factor within the piece is dynamics, which the composer shows in a particularly graphic way in the score - using a timeline graph.
