My Themes
for Trumpet and Piano
These pieces are conceived as a (hopefully engaging) challenge for the more advanced students at music schools.
The cycle of eight compositions titled My Themesconsists of 2-, 3- and 4-minute-long pieces for trumpet and piano, each with a separate title. In the cycle, I used musical themes from my earlier works for various performing forces, adapting them to the possibilities of the trumpet and the piano and
adjusting the level of difficulty to the abilities of young performers. Some of these themes are new, in the sense that their symphonic etc. versions have
not yet been composed, though I have carried these melodies in my head for years, some even since childhood. For instance, the tune of Bunny Pioemerged when I was six.
