The Tale of the Little Spark and other songs for children
arranged for various flute ensambles
The Tale of the Little Spark and other songs for children employs various instrumental configurations: from flute with piano, through a duet of flute and guitar, to flute ensembles (trio and quartet). The transcriptions are geared towards pupils of primary-level music schools, and the aim is not only to develop technical skills, but above all to stimulate children’s imagination and sensitivity.
Witold Lutosławski’s Songs for Children is a set of works that combine simple form with masterful musical distinctiveness. The composer himself classified them as functional output, intended for music-making, education and developing the imagination of young listeners. These short, charming compositions, based on poems by Janina Porazińska, introduce children to the world of sounds through melodious phrases, fun rhythms and colourful harmonies.
