Programme I
for Reciter, Flute, Whistle, Tam-tam, Siren and Tape
''Andrzej Krzanowski composed Audycje I-VI in the years 1973-1982. This is a series of quasi-stage vocal and instrumental pieces to texts by Jacek Bieriezin, Zbigniew Dolecki, Marian Stanclik, Sławomir Mrożek and Juliusz Słowacki. They contain quotations from composers of other eras, including Johann Sebastian Bach, Karol Szymanowski, and also Bogurodzica (an old Polish hymn tune). The composer also used tape in them and expected visual effects. The diverse list of performers also includes unusual instruments, such as sirens and whistles. An important role is played by the accordion. All of the Audycje are characterized by a modern language of composition, but at the same time a romantic emotionalism, even tending toward an explosive expressionism.
