Three Nocturnes Op.21; Two Nocturnes Op.24
for piano
This edition comprises five out of eight nocturnes composed by Dobrzyński. His piano nocturnes rooted in the genre created by John Field, but transformed and made famous by Fryderyk Chopin. Their texture, which similarly to "songs without words" combines a cantilena with "guitar-like" accompaniment based on broken chords, signalises the use of the tradition of vocal works, such as a serenade, romance, duma and dumka. The atmosphere, bringing associations with night, love and reverie, is noctural indeed.
