Sonata per due violini
Op. 10
Sonata for Two Violins one of Górecki's early compositions, written during his studies at the State Higher School of Music in Katowice - was inspired by Bartok's 44 Duos and Prokofiev's Sonata and premiered at his first monograph concert at the Silesian capital's Philharmonic. Full of textural and dynamic contrasts, it attracted the attention of the listeners at once. The lyricism and the grotesque, the rivalry of both instruments and the sophisticated means of compositional technique manifesting Górecki's continual exploration of the treasury of tones are the main qualities of the work.
