12 Adventures in Bowing op. 145
notes for two Violins
I wrote 12 Adventures in Bowing for both younger and older pupils. I wanted to expand their musical imagination and sensibility, and I believe that new
worlds are best explored in company.
Although these works do contain traditional tonal harmonies, occasionally I like to abandon them, so that young performers can get to know a less
a conventional colouring. The rhythms are based on simple formulas, but the capricious metre brings an element of surprise.
The duets are not arranged according to technical difficulty, so they can be played in any order, creating a variety of musical tales.
