The ''Second Symphony'' consists of three movements. The first, Con vigore, constitutes a colourful introduction; the second, Commodo, is composed in the loose form of a sonata allegro (three themes); The third, Lento appassionato, beginning with a violin solo, is a concerto grosso, in which the concertino group is formed by two violins.
