for Violin and Piano
I composed ''Expressions'' in 1990 as the first part of a more widely-conceived series of miniatures for violin and piano. With its ''avant-gardeness'' (aleatoric music!) the work outdistances compositions of this kind written in later years. The music of ''Expressions'' is characterized by its dramatic quality and considerable emotional tension, which is released in the final aleatoric culmination. [R. Twardowski]
