Henryk Opieński

1870-1942

Opieński’s compositions are eclectic in character, there are stylistic borrowings from Wagner, R. Strauss and French music (the opera “Jacob the Lutist”), references to the tradition of Polish songs (Moniuszko) and Polish folk songs. Rarely performed during composer’s life, currently they are almost completely forgotten.
